Werner Ross Fellowship

Four-week stay at the Nietzsche House Sils Maria for research, thinking and writing.

The fellowship has been set up in memory of Nietzsche biographer and homme de lettres Werner Ross (1912-2002). The fellowship is sponsored by the Nietzsche Forum Munich (www.nietzsche-forum-muenchen.de).

The fellowship is aimed at university students, doctoral candidates and writers up to age 36. Ongoing projects concerning Friedrich Nietzsche are eligible. It provides a free four-week stay in September at the Nietzsche House Sils Maria, where Nietzsche spent seven summers and conceived or wrote major works.  The stay concludes with participation in the Nietzsche Colloquium Sils Maria (Waldhaus Hotel) during the last weekend in September. The fellowship assumes the cost of the overnight stays plus a EUR 500 allowance for travel and food. The House library and archive are open to you; Prof. Peter André Bloch is your contact, should you have any questions (link in German).

Following your stay, you will be expected to furnish a report on your stay, on your encounter with Sils Maria or an excerpt from the work that you wrote here. Your text will be published on the Nietzsche Forum Munich e.V. website.

Please send applications (brief outline of your project, concise curriculum vitae, letter of motivation) in PDF format to the chairman of the jury, Dr. Elke Wachendorff: wrs@nietzsche-forum-muenchen.de.

Other members of the jury are: Prof. Peter André Bloch, Prof. Harald Müllich, PD Miriam Ommeln, Prof. Günter Zöller. Deadline June 1 of the respective year.
